Just faces - where are those July 1978 beauties now?

"Carbodies, a North American Nose Count," read the cover blurb on January 1978 TRAINS. To the right of, and below the headline, appeared nose-on views of 12 cab units of as many carriers still in service, as you see here. As it happens, they were all EMDs: 8 F units and 4 E units. Two were Canadian. The cover tied-in to my feature story, "Covered Wagons - The Circle Grows Smaller," on pages 26-32.
