The Rapido Trains N scale Turboliner, based on the Rohr Industries prototype from the mid-1970s, recently paid a visit to our Milwaukee, Racine & Troy State Line Route layout. Join Senior Editor Cody Grivno as he shares a brief history of the RTL Turboliner, points out the details on a 5-car set, and demonstrates the various light and sound functions. Then sit back and enjoy watching the train as it rolls through scenic southeastern Wisconsin.

Rapido offers the Turboliner in 5-car sets in Amtrak’s phase 3 (early and late) and 5 paint schemes. Individual add-on cars include two coaches and a food service coach (phase 3 early), two Turbocoaches and a Turbocafe (phase 3 late), and an unnumbered Coachclass car (phase 5).

The Rapido Trains N scale Turboliner was designed using a combination of original blueprints and field measurements. Model features include tinted windows, interior details, and flicker-free interior lighting; separate, factory-applied grab irons; detailed trucks with third-rail shoes; and all-wheel electrical pickup. In addition, the model has working headlights, marker lights, and cab-mounted strobe lights. Both power cars have a drive system.

Rapido sells the N scale Turboliner in 5-car sets for $449.95 (direct current) and $679.95 (Digital Command Control and ESU LokSound decoder). Add-on cars retail for $64.95 each.
