DAUPHIN, Pa. — A 27-year-old Kingsport, Tenn., man has been identified as the victim of a fatal accident on a Norfolk Southern project earlier this month.
The Kingsport Times-News reports Kolton Parker Helbert, an employee of National Salvage & Service Corp., was killed in the Dec. 8 accident. National Salvage provides demolition and dismantlement services. A company spokesman told the newspaper it was the first death of an employee in an accident in the company’s more than 40-year history.
The National Transportation Safety Board sent a three-person team of investigators to the accident site. A preliminary report will be issued in about a month, with the full report taking at least a year, an NTSB spokesman said.
McFadden, you are correct. Been there done that. Problem is consider how many reports there are and darn if I recall how long ago it was. Thanks for the suggestion and was hoping someone recalled “exactly” the incident I referred to.
James: Good question. My curiosity is about an incident some time ago. Seems a CW track was being laid and the rear of that work train had a thru train rear end it. One fatal. My interest at the time of the accident was, who was at fault. How can this happen. But the final NTSB was posted so long afterwards and I missed it. Can anyone recall and cite the final report?
This cited new incident sounds familiar to the one I have inquired about
The accident report you’re looking for might be on the NTSB website. Click on investigations and explore from there.
What was the project? What was being demolished and/or disassembled?
