VENTURA, Calif. — Martin Erickson has been named as executive director of the Ventura County Transportation Commission, succeeding Darren Kettle, who was named CEO of commuter rail operator Metrolink in July 2021.
Erickson, who had been the commission’s public transit director since 2016, was selected after a four-month search, the Ventura County Star reports.
The organization, with an $82 million budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year, operates local bus services and allocates funds to the county, its communities, and Metrolink and the Gold Coast Transit District. The commission, with a 17-member board, recently selected Sierra Northern Railway as operator of the county-owned former Southern Pacific line that was previously home to the Fillmore & Western [see “Sierra Northern to operate line …,” Trains News Wire, Dec. 16, 2021].
