In its December meeting, the Susquehanna Economic Development Agency-Council of Governments (SEDA-COG) Joint Rail Authority agreed to purchase rail assets and a freight service easement agreement for the Selinsgrove Industrial Track from NS for $371,200. The easement is necessary because Norfolk Southern is retaining the land underlying the right-of-way.

The track involved is 7.7 miles from Selinsgrove Junction to Kreamer on Norfolk Southern’s Buffalo line, plus 1.3 miles the former Sunbury Generation Station power plant. At present, the line has one regular customer, the Kreamer Feed Mill at its western end, along with occasional cards to K&L Feeds at its midpoint.

SEDA-COG owns almost 200 miles of trackage serving 70 customers in Centre, Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland and Union counties through five railroads: The Nittany & Bald Eagle; Lycoming Valley; North Shore; Shamokin Valley; and Juniata Valley. More details are available at its website. Snyder County will be invited to join the authority because of the location of the new acquisition.
