Q: Could you please tell me how I can find parts for my Lionel trains, which were made from 1949-1965? I am trying to restore them for my son. Is there a place to order parts? Is it from Lionel? How do I go about contacting them? – J.S.

A: Most parts are still available. See your local Lionel dealer, check the yellow pages under Hobbies, or, for a state-by-state dealer listing, go to lioneltrain.com

If you don’t have any luck finding a dealer or service center in your area, two of the larger mail order parts dealers are East Coast Train Parts, Box 604, Englishtown, NJ 07726 eastcoasttrainparts and Warrens Model Trains, Box 352, Richfield, OH 44126 wmtlionelparts.com

Most of the exploded-view diagrams from Lionel’s multi-volume postwar repair manuals are reprinted in Greenberg’s Repair and Operating manual for Lionel Trains, 1945-1969.
