KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kaw River Railroad operations in Kansas City now feature two former Union Pacific SD60M’s in a paint scheme reflecting the line’s Watco ownership. The 6032 and 6033 are the first six-axle locomotives on the Kaw River, which operates former Kansas City Terminal Railway trackage in Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo.
The Electro-Motive Division locomotives, built in 1990, were repainted by Mid America Car in Kansas City, Mo.
In February, No. 6032 was seen outside the Mid America shop in a different paint scheme that featured a black nose and cab area. That scheme was not approved, leading to the version now worn by the 3,800-hp locomotives.
