Mamod Ltd, Unit 1A, Summit Crescent Industrial Estate, Smethwick, West Midlands B66 1BT, United Kingdom, has released a model of a small diesel-electric locomotive in 16mm scale called Brunel. The engine, battery powered by eight AA rechargeable batteries (not included), has adjustable gauge (0 or 1) and is driven by a 12V DC motor. A charging jack is included. The locomotive is available in green or black. Price: £325. Mamod also announced that they will be producing their Telford 0-4-0T live-steam locomotive in gauge 1 for the North American market. LGB (Märklin) has released new equipment painted and lettered for the Napa Valley Wine Train. Included are an EMD F7 A-unit (#L20580) with two powered trucks, traction tires, and a built-in mfx/DCC decoder with a variety of digitally controlled light and sound functions ($874.99); a boxcar (#L41915) with metal wheelsets ($189.99); and an observation car (#L36591) with factory-installed interior, interior lighting, lighted marker lights, a lighted drumhead, and metal wheelsets with electrical pickups ($439.99). Also available from LGB is a Halloween gang car (#L20063) imprinted on both sides with Halloween themes. Both axles are driven and the car has directional lighting and an interface connection for installation of a digital decoder. The LGB couplers can be replaced by included link-and-pin couplers. Massoth has released many new products, including an analog LED lighting unit (#8122202, €17.95, 2/pack) and digital LED lighting unit (#8122302, €29.95, 2/pack), each 100mm long and 10mm wide and equipped with warm-white LEDs on a white-surface circuit board. The digital version may be operated in analog mode from 5-24V. Also available is a stainless-steel speaker drilling template (#8314501, €14.95), which will aid in precisely drilling holes for a speaker installation. The 4mm holes can be drilled symmetrically. New Garden Railway Exhibition in South Africa. The South African Large Scale Model Railway Group (SALSMRG), in conjunction with the Eden Lions and the Outeniqua Railway Society, is hosting a five-day exhibition at the Outeniqua Transport Museum in George, South Africa, on December 14-18, 2018. The event will be patterned after the Diamondhead, Mississippi steamup in the USA. Two layouts, one gauge 0 and the other gauge 1, will be available for running live-steam and electric trains.
