The first is an updated Aster USRA Light Mikado 2-8-2 in 1:32 scale (shown). The updated engine is alcohol fired and has cast-iron driver wheels, a newly-designed tender, increased water and fuel capacity, and much more. Available in both kit and ready-to-run versions, undecorated or in the following schemes: UP, NYC, or B&O. Also available is a brand-new USRA Heavy Mikado 2-8-2 in 1:32 scale. Roundhouse Engineering, Unit 6-10, Churchill Business Park, Churchill Road Doncaster, South Yorks, UKDN1 2TF has “Jennie,” an 0-4-2, gas fired, slip eccentric tender locomotive. LGB (Märklin) has announced a Mogul-type steam locomotive of the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad painted in a special version for the firm’s 50th anniversary (#20280). The engine has traction tires and an mfx/DCC decoder with light and sound functions. This is a one-time series, and it’s available from LGB retailers. Website: lgb.com

Piko America, 4610 Alvarado Canyon Rd., Ste. 5, San Diego CA 92120, offers several new products for early 2019. The first is Hopper’s Hopper (#38893), an Easter hopper car with a springtime graphics. The firm is also releasing two pieces of rolling stock in Union Pacific livery, a wood coach car (#38648, shown) and a wood combine car (#38649). Last but not least, Piko America is releasing a D&RGW 2-6-0T saddletank locomotive. The engine has a five-pole motor and directional LED lights, and is ready for smoke and sound installation. MTH Electric Trains, 7020 Columbia Gateway Drive, Columbia MD 21046 is releasing two SD70ACe locomotives in 2019 to commemorate President George H.W. Bush’s funeral train. Engine No. 4141 (#70-2133-1) will be decorated in George Bush 41 livery, and engine No. 9096 (#70-2134-1) will have Union Pacific livery. Both engines will include Proto-Sound 3.0. Price: $749.95. A built-in calibration routine allows you to install this tool on any car, with any wheel diameter. Price: $35-39. Kalmbach Media, PO Box 1612, Waukesha WI 53187-1612 offers a Lubricant Kit (#69708), which includes three types of Labelle Industries lubricants: #102 is a thin grease used on gear boxes and sealed workings, #106 is a thick grease used on exposed gear boxes and on all open worm gears, and #107 is a “medium” type oil used for larger motors.
