GARY, Ind. — South Shore Line commuter rail service has entered a new phase of busing as part of the continuing project to double track the main line between Gary and Michigan City, Ind.

As of Saturday, Aug. 6, a bus bridge is operating between the Gary Metro station and Carroll Avenue station in Michigan City, with trains operating from Gary Metro to Millennium Station in downtown Chicago, and between Carroll Avenue and South Bend Airport. Buses will operate between Gary Metro and Carroll Avenue according to the train timetable, making intermediate stops at Dune Park, Portage/Ogden Dunes, and Miller. Loop bus service will operate between the Beverly Shores and 11th Street stations. Service will operate in this fashion through spring 2023.
