ATLANTA — Efforts to address the company’s carbon footprint and those of its customers are highlighted in Norfolk Southern’s Environmental, Social, and Governance report, releases today (Aug. 10, 2022).
The company’s sustainability efforts include creating a carbon calculator for shippers, designed to help them reduce carbon emissions in their supply chains; a sustainability summit at its Brosnan Forest preserve in South Carolina; and a meeting of chief mechanical officers with representatives from all Class I railroads in North America to consider ideas and best practices to improve efficiency.
“Norfolk Southern is making strides to advance sustainability for both our customers and our planet, and we know it will take a collaborative effort to reach the environmental goals required to protect our planet for future generations,” NS Chief Sustainability Officer Josh Raglin said in a press release. “The more companies work together across their supply chain, the quicker we can achieve measurable progress.”
