MONTREAL — Canadian National has released the 2021 data supplement to its sustainability report, providing information on the railroad’s progress in meeting its environmental and other social goals.
Among the data released:
— The railroad reduced its greenhouse gas emission intensity by 3.3% from 2020 and has reached 15% progress toward its target of a 43% reduction by 2030.
— The railroad has achieved its 2022 target of reducing air emissions intensity by 6%, based on 2017 figures, under a memorandum of understanding with Transport Canada.
— The railroad planted 112,000 trees and has now planted 2.3 million since 2012, 77% of its target figure of 3 million trees by 2030.
