Excellent, comprehensive articles on collector identification of hi-end Lionel line diesels and electrics of the ’40’s into 60’s; my diesel/ electric collecting interest is in the late 40’s and 50-60s ALCOs and line & yard switchers; yes, as Mr Eakin recently noted, body shell mounting screw hole cracks are challenging on FMs, F3s and ALCOs. Here’s to 1st gen F3s and their continued use of ’46 horizontal motor dual drives (like the 75 year ‘new’ 671s / 2020s / 726s)… reliably ‘purring’ their 3-rail way into the hearts of new generations of collectors in this next century
