Gunderson Multi-Max auto racks feature:

  • Railroad, road number, and era-specific details
  • Four body variations, three ladder styles, two types of end doors, three end sill configurations, and two different upper and lower side panel mountings
  • Inside or outside mounted brake cylinder, brake beam, and brake rod support mounting brackets
  • 14 separate, factory-applied etched-metal side panels

Release date: June 2023

Paint schemes: BNSF Ry. (orange with black herald, orange with orange herald on corrugated panel in six numbers, and white with black herald and BNSF flatcar), Canadian National (yellow with red and white “wet noodle” heralds), Canadian Pacific (white with red “CP” lettering and Soo flatcar and yellow with beaver herald), CSX (yellow with “boxcar” herald and TTGX and CTTX flatcars), Norfolk Southern (yellow with Thoroughbred herald and CTTX and TOCX flatcars), TTX (yellow), and Union Pacific (white with UP flatcar and yellow, both with “Building America” slogan in six numbers each).   1. As I understand it, these cars can be set up as either two deck or three deck interiors and move from one to the other in a few hours. Is there any exterior feature or marking that shows which setup is in use? How does the switch crew know whether to place a car in a 2 or 3 deck unloading track? Paperwork, just looking inside the car, placard on the side or other?
