Description: Marx made several versions of the 999, this video shows two early versions. The open spoke 999 was produced first, then after problems with the pilot breaking off the second version, the closed spoke, was produced. It seems that even the closed spoke may have also broken easily, so they later eliminated the spoked pilot, and made the pilot solid.
Great content lets see more from Todd..
Hello Todd Hein It is sure nice to see the Marx #999 locomotives, they sure were nice looking locomotives too. I just love them my friend. Thanks longbow57ca. (Edward King).
Wonderful! -Some real toy trains instead of all that super expensive, overly detailed, hi-rail stuff!! If only CTT would carry more of this in their print magazine? IMO their penchant for displaying mostly only hi-rail layouts makes them more of an OGR-1 type publication! But the older, really classic, really toy trains (like Marx for instance?) do not take out ads in the mag like Lionel, MTH, and Williams do, so I guess that has a lot to do with CTT’s space agenda… But I do wish CTT would give their subscribers some priority over their advertisers more often than they appear to be doing?
Charles, thank you for that comment. I agree that there is more of the super detailed stuff than toy trains. But to be honest, I am going for a hi-rail look in my scenery and buildings. I do not think that advertising has much to do with the type of articles that they print, I happen to know that there is going to be a Marx layout article in a future issue. (No not my layout) CTT relies on people to write articles, Al O. talked to Roger Carp about the lack of Marx related articles, he told Al that he wants more Marx articles but people have to submit them. I don’t think that CTT sends people to layouts to write article often.
