Theme:    Tinplate trains running on a semi-realistic layout
Description:    1936 Marx Commodore Vanderbilt, this is actually a windup locomotive that I put an electric motor in. The cars on this train have silver litho frames, with tab and slot couplers. These cars, though not scarce, are not real common. I bought this set on Ebay, and added that extra tender and hopper car that I had gotten earlier. The 494 and cars is from about 1938, the cars have the eight wheel trucks and automatic couplers. These were the deluxe Marx cars of the day. I am in the process of building a tinplate layout that had realistic scenery and wanted to show that old Marx tinplate will look good with a layout that is not toy like.

  2. Hello Todd Hein, I loved your Marx Train video it was very Interesting too me and I am a Marx Train lover over 60 years too. I am also a Marx Train collector and I run them all the time on my small 4 by 8 layout in my basement. I also love to work on my Marx trains too to keep them in good working order. I loved your Marx CP locomotive and your Commodore Vanderbilt locomotive and all your Marx Cars too. It is sure nice to see somebody or you still running Marx trains that is so very cool and neat. I have 7 of those plastic tubs full Marx Trains, locomotives, rolling stock, transformers and other train parts for Marx trains and lots of wire too. My favorite Marx locomotive is the smoker #666 I run them the most and make the basement stink smoke I love too. Thanks for you video Edward King.
