WASHINGTON — Amtrak has announced a series of changes and cancellations for Silver Star, Silver Meteor, and Auto Train departures scheduled for today (Tuesday, Nov. 8) through Friday, Nov. 11, because of the approach of Tropical Storm Nicole, which is being forecast to reach hurricane status by the time it arrives in Florida.
The first trains affected are today’s southbound Silver Star and Silver Meteor, which will terminate in Jacksonville, Fla., on Wednesday, Nov. 9, instead of continuing to Miami.
On Wednesday, Nov. 9, the northbound Silver Star and Silver Meteor will originate in Jacksonville instead of Miami; the southbound Silver Star will depart New York as scheduled but terminate in Jacksonville on Nov. 10, while the southbound Silver Meteor is cancelled entirely. Departures of Auto Train in both directions on Nov. 9 are also cancelled.
On Thursday, Nov. 10, both Auto Trains and both Silver Meteors are cancelled, while the southbound Silver Star will depart from New York and Jacksonville. On Friday, Nov. 11, the northbound Silver Star will originate in Jacksonville and the northbound Silver Meteor is cancelled.
Complete information is also available in this advisory.
Updated information will be available at Amtrak.com, on the Amtrak smartphone app, and at the Amtrak Alerts Twitter feed. Those needing to change reservations can call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-Rail.
Disappointed Amtrak isn’t seeking a STB order for the storm to stay away…
Looking at the “Amtrak” advisory, it states October as the month instead of November. I guess proof reading is no more.
