The Summer 2019 issue of Garden Railways features the Westie Line. Don’t miss the six-page feature on this gorgeous line!
Owner Ken Brody shared these photographs from 1994, when he re-created a Golden Spike event on his line:
These two photos were taken 25 years ago during the celebration marking completion of the first loop of track on the Westie Line. For obvious operational reasons, the full size gold spike (actually just gold painted) was moved a few inches to the adjacent Gold Spike Park and remains in place with the October 4, 1994, date marked on it. The train on the right was my first. The one on the left with the load of celebrants was visiting. That’s me, a quarter century younger, driving the spike and celebrating with Duffie the Westie.
