ORLANDO, Fla. — Brightline will resume 110-mph testing on the coastal portion of its extension to Orlando this Friday, Jan. 6, a process scheduled to continue in Martin and St. Lucie counties through Monday, Jan. 23.
Testing on the 11-mile stretch of track will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Flaggers and law enforcement officers will be present at the five grade crossings in this segment — in St. Lucie County, at Walton Road and Riverview Drive; in Martin County, at County Line Road, Skyline Drive (County Road 722), and Pitchford Landing.
Brightline has released a new video on the 110-mph testing and safety improvements at the crossings in the testing area, and offers a website with updated safety content.
The testing is part of ongoing preparation for the launch of Brightline service between Orlando and West Palm Beach planned for sometime in 2023.
Unfortunately there are more people than Darwin awards.
Dr. Darwin is in for some busy days this week on this line of road.
You can put a 25 foot tall billboard over the crossing that would flash “HIGH SPEED TRAIN” and people will still try to cut across. You can’t regulate stupid.
In Brookfield (Wisconsin) two idiots have driven around the gates and, fortunately, killed no one but themselves. Brookfield City Council of course says the crossing signals need to be upgraded. No, the signals are fully up to standard. The drivers need to be upgraded. And the city council needs to be upgraded.
Don’t blame me, I live in the Town, not the City.
