MADISON, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Madison’s College of Engineering will offer three rail courses as part of its Interdisciplinary Professional Programs. The upcoming courses are:
— Fundamentals of Railroad Bridge Inspection, April 18-20, offered in person or online. Those taking part will learn about the inspector’s responsibilities, compliance with regulations, training requirements, and types of inspections. Timber, steel, concrete, movable bridges, and culverts will be covered. More information and enrollment is available here.
— Fundamentals of Electric Rail Vehicle systems, April 24-25, offered in person in Philadelphia. The course will cover basic design criteria of the railcar, its subsystems and integration, and discuss factors that affected design, manufacture, and maintenance of subsystems. — Highway-Rail Grade Crossing safety, May 9-10, offered in-person or online. The course will teach basic principles of grade crossing safety and how to apply them to new and existing projects. More information and enrollment is available here.
