New Brunswick tourist railroads you must visit include a restored station to a railway museum full of 20 pieces of displayed equipment and everything in between. Here’s our list of must-see tourist railroads, museums, and displays — for almost every region in New Brunswick.

McAdam Railway Station

Built in 1900, the McAdam Railway Station has been beautifully restored and is now both a National and Provincial historic site. As a designated Heritage Railway Station, operated and managed by the McAdam Historical Restoration Commission, the building itself contains a telegraph office, and multiple exhibits full of railroad artifacts and photos which tell the unique story of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Guided tours are available from July through September, as it’s where you’ll hear historic accounts about German spies, early rail travel, and a shooting that happened in the waiting room. Also, be sure to try a slice of railroad pie. Special events are also offered at the station, in addition to catering, food services, and charters such as weddings. Check the website for more information.

New Brunswick Railway Museum

As the leading railway museum in New Brunswick, the multiple exhibits there contain more than 20 pieces of railroad equipment that includes locomotives, passenger coaches, freight cars, maintenance-of-way equipment, and cabooses. Some of the motive power and rolling stock are open for viewing, including steam locomotive No. 1009 from the Canadian National Railway, a first-class passenger car, and a couple of cabooses on display. The museum also displays a speeder car, a telegraph office, and smaller artifacts. The New Brunswick Railway Museum is open from June through September. Special events are also offered throughout the year. Check their website for a complete schedule.
