As a replica of the station that stood in Princeton for more than 70 years, the Princeton Railroad Museum shares the stories of the Virginian Railway and other rail-related history throughout the region.

The museum features exhibits full of artifacts and photographs surrounding the history of both the Virginian Railway and the Norfolk & Western Railway. There’s an extensive collection of lanterns, lights and lamps on display. The most notable pieces in the collection are former Virginian Railway caboose No. 308 and a rare 1894 Sheffield Velocipede both on display and open to the public for tours.
When to go
The museum is open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the exception of holidays. Private tours and special events are also offered at the museum. Check their website for more information and to schedule an appointment.
Good to know
Caboose No. 308 is one of 25 cabooses that was built by the St. Louis Car Company for the Virginian Railway in 1948.

Getting there
Take US Highway 460 to Princeton, before turning onto Ingleside Road. Turn onto East Main Street for one block before turning right onto Mercer Street as you’ll eventually make your way onto old Mercer Street through Princeton’s brick street historic district. The museum will be at the end of the street with a parking lot.
