MONTREAL — Canadian National Railway and the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference have reached a tentative labor agreement, the parties announced Sunday. The agreement covers approximately 6,000 locomotive engineers, conductors, and yard workers in Canada, who now must ratify the deal.
A ratification vote will be held via electronic secret ballot May 5-26. The union said it would not discuss details of the agreement until members have had a chance to view them first.
“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with the TCRC,” CN CEO Tracy Robinson said in a statement. “We would like to thank their leadership for engaging with CN in proactive and productive discussions, ensuring uninterrupted service for our customers. We look forward to working with them in the future.”
“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with CN,” Teamsters Canada National President François Laporte said in the union’s statement. “I would like to congratulate the bargaining committee on their hard work, and thank all the members who took part in this process.”
