The training center is a partnership of the association, UITP; NJ Transit; and Rutgers University’s Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation, or CAIT, with classes to be held at CAIT in Piscataway, N.J. The partnership was announced earlier this year [see “NJ Transit joins partnership …,” Trains News Wire, March 17, 2023].

Classes will be held in July (Public Transportation Fundamentals for North America); September (Electric Buses, Fleet & Infrastructure Planning, Operations, and Maintenance); October (Rail Operations and Maintenance for North America); and November (Ticketing and Fare Management for North America.) Links to registration and additional information are available here.

“We’re proud to partner with UITP and Rutgers CAIT to establish UITP’s first Regional Training Center in North America, providing a unique opportunity to access the expertise and insights of UITP’s network of trainers from the top transit agencies around the world,” NJ Transit CEO Kevin S. Corbett said in a press release.
