POCATELLO, Idaho — One of Union Pacific’s main lines out of its Pocatallo railyard was blocked for a day following a derailment of about 20 cars on Tuesday evening, the Idaho State Journal reports.
The derailment occurred about 8:50 p.m. No injuries were reported and no hazardous materials were spilled. Most cars were empty and none left UP property, the railroad said. The route was expected to be cleared by Wednesday evening.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
Railroads need to be in the news for good news.
Things like Santa trains, passenger excursions, opening of new or rebuilt intermodal yards. The delivery of new locomotives, new freight cars.
A big locomotive can make a good story. A news story on how UP delivers (☺☺).
A modern locomotive has a lot of shiny lights.
One wheel hits the dirt, and it’s Front Page News. Good grief.
Wondering why this story is worth reporting?
