TSB to investigate CN derailment in Saskatchewan (updated)

Sunday derailment involves 19 cars, no hazardous materials

Canadian National logoLENEY, Saskatchewan — The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has begun an investigation after 23 cars of a Canadian National train derailed Sunday evening near Leney, Sask., the CBC reports.

No injuries were reported and no hazardous materials were reported to be involved, according to the TSB. The derailment occurred about 5 p.m. Two TSB investigators have been sent to the site.

The derailment site is on CN’s main line between Edmonton, Alberta, and Winnipeg, Manitoba, about 21 miles east of Biggar on the Watrous Subdivision, and about 40 miles west of Saskatoon. Initial reports had placed the derailment near Biggar.
