LOS ANGELES — Commuter rail operator Metrolink will expand service on its Ventura County Line beginning this weekend, adding a round trip to the existing Saturday schedule and adding operations on Sundays.
The schedule for one existing train will also change to offer more weekend service options.
As of July 1, schedules for both Saturday and Sunday will see VC Line train No. 163 depart Los Angeles Union Station at 10:31 a.m., arriving at Ventura-East at 12:22 p.m. Train No. 164 will depart Ventura-East at 4:14 p.m. and arrive at Los Angeles Union Station at 6 p.m.
Also, the current train No. 162 will depart Ventura-East later, at 1:10 p.m., arriving at 2:58 p.m.
“As a Ventura County resident and frequent Metrolink rider, I am excited that we are now offering more weekend service along the Ventura County Line,” Metrolink CEO Darren Kettle said in a press release. “Thank you to our freight partners at Union Pacific Railroad and the Ventura County Transportation Commission for working with us to deliver more convenient and flexible train service for Southern Californians. With the two new trains and expanded Sunday service, more people can easily explore the region between Ventura and Los Angeles.”
The two weekend Metrolink round trips are supplemented by two codeshare Pacific Surfliner trains available to Metrolink ticket holders. Full schedules and more information are available here.
Any expansion of service west [north] of Moorpark requires the approval of Union Pacific.

Maybe, to the extent of the demands and possibilities, Metrolink may need to increase the said additional services even more during the season.
