NEW YORK — Limited service has resumed on Metro-North Railroad’s Hudson Line between Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Grand Central Terminal as of this evening (July 11), with near-regular operations slated on that line and a full schedule on the Upper Harlem Line for Wednesday, July 12.

The first northbound train to Poughkeepsie departed Grand Central at 6:15 p.m. This evening’s southbound trains are continuing to originate in Peekskill, N.Y., but trains will run over the full length of the line on Wednesday.

Flooding had closed the Hudson Line north of Croton-Harmon on Sunday and the Harlem line north of Southeast on Monday morning.

“Metro-North crews have put forth another Herculean effort following an extreme weather event, clearing the tracks of fallen trees, high water, mud and debris,” Metro-North President Catherine Rinaldi said in a press release. “It is because of their hard work that we are able to restore service on the full Hudson and Harlem lines. Hudson Line customers should check TrainTime [the MTA commuter rail app] before traveling, as we will run a modified schedule to allow for further storm clean up.” Information will also be available at the MTA website.

Amtrak operations have also resumed between New York and Albany, based on a Tuesday night train update from  the Amtrak NEC Alerts Twitter feed and a report from the Albany Times-Union.

— Updated at 7:20 a.m. CDT with Amtrak status.

  1. While much of the storm has passed through New York, it’s critical to remain vigilant! Showers and thunderstorms are expected in the region again on Friday.

  2. At the time of this post (8.36 PM EDT 7-12-2023) Amtrak still had its 10.00 PM EDT 7-11-2023 announcement posted.

MNR says they will be running a modiified schedule on the Hudson Line (the Line used by Amtrak) so that could mean no Empire Service one more day.
