DINGMANS FERRY, Pa. — New stops in western Connecticut, eastern Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey will highlight the 15th season of Operation Toy Train, the special train collecting toy donations for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots Foundation to benefit underpriviledged children.
The train will operate for more than 200 miles across seven railroads and four states between Nov. 12 and Dec. 16; the 36 events, including three stationary events, aim to collect more than 30,000 toys. The full schedule is available here.
The train will use Operation Toy Train’s own equipment, as well as that of railroads and nonprofit organizations that donate their railcars, personnel, and equipment to operate the train. Members of the public are invited to visit the train to donate new, unwrapped toys in their original packaging, and participate in on-site activities including visits with Santa Claus and meeting members of the Marine Corps and Operation Toy Train program. Businesses and organizations near scheduled stops will collect toys for those unable to attend one of the train’s stops.
More information on the program, and for those interested in sponsoring, donating to, or participating in Operation Toy Train, is available at the organization’s website.
