STB appoints six to Rail Energy Transportation Advisory Committee

New members come from railroad, railcar, petroleum, and biofuel backgrounds

Surface Transportation Board logoWASHINGTON — The Surface Transportation Board on Monday announced appointment of six new members to the Rail Energy Transportation Advisory Committee, which advises the board on matters regarding rail movement of coal, ethanol, and other energy resources by rail.

New to the board are:

— Bryan Boaz, rail operations field supervisor of ExxonMobil, an at-large member;

— Sean Brewer, assistant vice president of rail fleet operations for ADM, a biofuel representative;

— Sandra Ellis, vice president, bulk, Canadian National Railway, a Class I railroad representative;

— Leila Ford, vice president of sales and marketing for Genesee & Wyoming railroad services, a shortline railroad representative;

— Edward Quinn, CEO of the R.J. Corman Railroad Group, a shortline railroad representative;

— Robert Zmudka, senior vice president and chief commercial officer of GATX, a representative of the private railcar industry.

“The six new members of RETAC bring to the committee a range of experience in the industries they represent, and we look forward to hearing their perspectives,” STB Chairman Martin Oberman said in a press release. “I continue to find it essential that the Board bring together varied voices in our stakeholder committees.  I look forward to working with these new members to discuss issues related to ensuring the effective and efficient rail transportation of energy resources.”

The committee has 28 voting members; STB board members are ex official members, along with representatives of the departments of Agriculture, Energy, and Transportation, as well as the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The advisory committee meets at least twice a year.
