SARNIA, Ontario — Fourteen cars of a Canadian National train, including three tank cars carrying liquified petroleum gas, have derailed this morning as the train entered the railroad’s Sarnia yard, CKNX Radio reports.
No leaks have been reported. At least one grade crossing, at St. Andrew Street, has been blocked by the derailment. No other information is available at this time.
The CBC reports the derailment occurred about 4:20 a.m. and no injuries were reported. The Sarnia Observer reports the derailment is expected to be cleared by midday, and that while local firefighters were on hand, it was strictly to monitor the situation: “It’s not in an emergency capacity,” said Deputy Chief Dale Gartshore.
Sarnia is on Lake Huron, just across the St. Clair River from Port Huron, Mich.
