“We think it’s time for someone else to own it,” said Don Parker, a partner at the tunnel’s current owner, Prairie Grain Inc. Prairie bought the tunnel in the 1980s for storing grain, but has never used it.
The Coeur d’Alene real estate company marketing the property is advertising its possible use for storing wine or mushrooms. Temperatures in the 21-foot-tall tunnel stay at an even 50 degrees even on the hottest summer days. “You can feel the cold air coming out about 100 yards away,” Parker said.
The tunnel’s listing agent said he could also see it being a valuable property for a film company, considering how often chase scenes take place in tunnels.
