LAS VEGAS – A specially painted EMD SD70ACe was unveiled this week at MINExpo International 2012 in Las Vegas. The locomotive is painted yellow for Electro-Motive Diesel’s parent company Caterpillar. The 850,000 square foot event features 1,800 exhibitors in 12 indoor halls and outdoor areas at the Las Vegas Convention Center and runs Sept. 24-26.

The locomotive was moved from the now-closed EMD plant in London, Ont., to the event last month via Canadian National and Union Pacific rails. It was later trucked to the event and moved inside the convention hall. During the move the locomotive was covered by a blue tarp, but the exposed ditch light housings hinted at the locomotive’s color scheme.
