WASHINGTON — Patrick J. Fuchs has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate for a second term on the Surface Transportation Board.
Fuchs was confirmed by a voice vote on Tuesday, May 14. His latest term expires on Jan. 14, 2029.
President Joe Biden had nominated Fuchs for reappointment in January, and the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation advanced the nomination after a hearing in April.
Fuchs joined the board after serving as a senior staff member for that same Senate committee under Chairman John Thune (R-S.D.), working on legislation including the FAST (Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act) and reauthorization of the STB. Previously, he was an analyst at the Office of Management and Budget, managing railroad and maritme regulatory reviews, and also has worked for the State Department and U.S. Government Accountability Office. A Wisconsin native, he has a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin.
The confirmation of Fuchs leaves the board at four members, one short of full membership, after the May 10 retirement of Martin J. Oberman.
