STOCKTON, Calif. — Amtrak’s San Joaquins will once again add a special stop at Colonel Allensworth State Historic Park for the annual Junteenth event, set this year for June 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In connection with the event, trains will offer half price “Allensworth fares” for those attending the Juneteenth celebration at the historic park about 30 miles north of Bakersfield. Southbound trains stopping at the park will be Nos. 702, 710, 712, and 714; northbound trains are Nos. 713, 715, 717, 719, and 703. Full schedules are available here. More information is available here and tickets can be booked at the San Joaquins website. The special fare will be automatically applied.

A shuttle bus will operate to the park from the Allensworth station — normally a whistle stop available only for groups booking visits.

“Since launching this special train program in 2019, Amtrak San Joaquins has been an important partner in reconnecting people with this significant cultural site,” said Sasha Biscoe, president of Friends of Allensworth, the non-profit group that hosts the event. “We are proud to continue our partnership, offering a unique and convenient travel option that enhances access to our Juneteenth Festival. We encourage everyone to take advantage of the significant savings available and enjoy the scenic, comfortable ride on Amtrak San Joaquins, making both the journey there and the return trip part of a memorable experience.”

  1. “Woked” is not a word. And if you don’t like this, don’t go. It’s clearly not FOR you.

    Be better.

    1. “WOKED”? Is your ignorant response to a story. No such word, it’s obsolete as of the 1500’s in old English, unless you’re referring to a large metal bowl type cooking vessel for frying up Asian foods of which I’m sure you have a response to Asians as well with your limited vocabulary.
