DETROIT — Diana Ross, Jack White, Big Sean, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra headline the list of performers scheduled to appear this Thursday, June 6, as part of a 90-minute concert to celebrate the reopening of Michigan Central Station.
The lengthy lineup for the concert for the long-closed landmark, purchased and restored by Ford Motor Co. as the centerpiece of an innovation campus featuring a wide range of companies, was finally announced on Monday. The Detroit Free Press has more details here. The concert will be streamed live on Peacock starting at 8:30 p.m. ET; NBC will carry a one-hour special from the event on June 9 at 7 p.m. ET.
Concert admission is free with advance ticketing, but all tickets have been distributed, according to the Michigan Central website.
The concert kicks off 10 days of tours of the restored facility, June 7-16; the tours are also all sold out. Outdoor events including music and local entertainment are planned at the front lawn of the facility’s Newlab (the former Book Depository building) those same days from 6-10 p.m. No registration is required for those events.
Additionally, the station will be open for self-guided tours of the first floor from 5-9 p.m. on Fridays and 10 a.m. t0 5 p.m. on Saturdays June 21 through Aug. 31. Expanded public tours are planned this fall, when commercial activity begins at the facility; those details will be announced later.
