VENTURA, Calif. — Southern California commuter rail operator will once again add service for the X Games extreme sports competition in Ventura, to be held this year June 28-30.

Metrolink will offer two round trips between Los Angeles and the Ventura Downtown/Beach station on Saturday, June 29, and Sunday, June 30. Schedules and other details are available here. Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner had previously announced its own additional service [see “Pacific Surfliner adds service for X Games …,” Trains News Wire, May 31, 2024].

“I am excited that fans from across Southern California can once again ride Metrolink’s Ventura County Line to and from the X Games at the Ventura County Fairgrounds,” Metrolink board member and Camarillo Mayor Tony Trembley said in a press release. “Thanks to Metrolink’s family budget-friendly $10 Weekend Day Pass, our riders will have easy access to this iconic sporting event and festival experience adjacent to our county’s stunning coastline.”

Metrolink/Amtrak codeshare programs will be suspended during the X Games, but Metrolink codeshare customers may ride the special-event Surfliner trains if space is available.

Metrolink also modified service last year for the X Games [see “Metrolink to extend Ventura County service …,” News Wire, July 13, 2023].
