FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — A series of garages were damaged Saturday night when a CSX freight train derailed Saturday night in central Fredericksburg, WRIC-TV reports.
The incident was reported to Fredricksburg police about 8:50 p.m. No injuries were reported, but five railcars struck a large wall separating the Cobblestone Square development, a commercial and residential complex, from the CSX main line. That wall collapsed, damaging four garage buildings.
In a statement issued through Fredricksburg police, city Fire Chief Michael Jones said one of the garages was “completely flattened” and that two vehicles and one motorcycle were also damaged. City officials will work with Cobblestone management as the damaged buildings are stabilized or demolished.
No injuries were reported. While there were hazardous materials in the train’s consist, they were not involved in the derailment.

Sold to Silgan Containers for $6.6 million. It was listed for $9 million.
Very sad day, indeed.
Headline in Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (jsonline.com) that Kalmbach is selling its office building in the Town of Brookfield. (The postal address is Waukesha.)
I didn’t read the article itself, as the text is beyond the paywall and I am not a paid subscriber.
As we all know TRAINS is already already left the Kalmbach portfolio.
