The much-anticipated InterMountain HO scale GP16 diesel locomotive recently arrived at our new Brookfield headquarters. Join Model Railroader Senior Editor Cody Grivno as he provides a brief prototype history of the Seaboard Coast Line-rebuilt engines and United States Army No. 4630, points out the various detail parts, and demonstrates the sound and light features on the ESU LokSound 5-equipped model. Then see the GP16 in action as it switches cars on our Winston-Salem Southbound Tar Branch layout.

In addition to United States Army, the InterMountain HO scale GP16 diesel locomotive is decorated for Aberdeen, Carolina & Western (green and cream); CSX (blue and gray); Indiana Rail Road (gray and white); Louisville & Indiana (green and yellow); Pioneer Railcorp (black and yellow); RJ Corman RR Co. (gray and red); Santa Fe Southern (red and yellow); and Seaboard Coast Line (Family Lines System scheme). The four-axle road locomotive is offered in one to four road numbers per scheme.

The HO scale GP16 has an injection-molded plastic body; die-cast metal chassis; plastic, etched-metal, and formed wire detail parts; and engineering plastic handrails and stanchions. Additional features include multi-piece plastic truck sideframes, metal knuckle couplers, and cab interior details. The locomotive also has railroad-specific details, including ditch lights.

InterMountain Railway Co. offers the HO scale GP16 diesel locomotive with an ESU LokPilot non-sound decoder for $249.95. Models with an ESU LokSound version 5 sound decoder are priced at $319.95.
