FORT WORTH, Texas — BNSF Railway recently recognized its 2017 Employees of the Year at an awards ceremony in Fort Worth. The annual Employees of the Year program identifies employees who have made exceptional contributions whose achievements exemplify BNSF’s vision and values through their commitment, leadership and focus on working safely and efficiently to meet customer expectations.

“Employees of the Year is where we celebrate the essential role these employees played in our collective achievements of 2017,” says Carl Ice, BNSF president and CEO. “This year, the teams and individuals we recognized worked to improve safety and efficiency, capture new business, and enhance service while having an impact on the lives of those around them.”

Seventy-three of the more than 41,000 team members across the company were recognized at the ceremony for their individual and team achievements in 2017. Their actions span a range of accomplishments, including the renovation of BNSF’s Network Operations Center in Fort Worth; the leadership, performance and execution of Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts; and the positive train control infrastructure installation.

In addition, 36 employees who led teams that worked throughout 2017 without a reportable injury were recognized for their leadership in safety last year. Also honored were five Safety Employees of the Year, representing the Engineering, Intermodal Business Unit Operations, Mechanical, Telecommunications and Transportation teams. These five employees are featured in our Safety Employees of the Year video.
