BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Four passengers and the train’s operator were injured today (Friday, Oct. 11) when an NJ Transit River Line light rail train collided with a truck, WCAU-TV reports.
The collision occurred about 6:15 a.m. at the Dulty’s Lane grade crossing; 36 people were aboard the train at the time of the incident. The injuries to those aboard the train were described as “non-life-threatening;” there was no report on whether the driver of the truck was injured.
River Line service was suspended for about three hours as a result of the collision.
The 34-mile, 21-station River Line operates between Camden and Trenton, N.J. It operates with unusual diesel-powered light-rail trainsets built by Stadler.
The line in question is ex-PRR and was the route of the PRR-PRSL Nellie Bly Express from NY Penn to Atlantic City via Trenton.
It is currently operated as a CR freight line overnight and a NJT light rail line other hours under Temporal Separation rules. 0615 time says this was one of the first NJT trains of the day.
Why do these stories often say the train collided with the truck, rather than the other way around?
Dumb ass trucker!
I can’t help but think this…
Truck driver, “I think I can, I think I can, I think …Dammit!!” 😥😭
