COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Alan A. Held has been promoted to vice president of transportation at the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway, the company has announced.
Held has been with the railway since 2022. He has been responsible for operation of transload facilities, overseeing of personnel managmenet, managing Federal Railroad Administration compliance, and developing rulebooks and testing standards. He has also contributed to development of capital projects include a multimillion dollar upgrade of an online sugar transload facility, Geographic Information System mapping of the railroad, and implementation of a systemwide service schedule.
Previously a manager of train operations at Union Pacific, Held is a graduate of Cornell University with a major in applied economics and management. He interned with Amtrak in Philadelphia.
The New York, Susquehanna & Western operates more than 400 route-miles in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. It also offers rail-served real estate and railcar storage services.
