In April, the association announced that it had arranged for an event seldom seen in railroad preservation: No. 745, would pull a revenue freight train provided by the New Orleans & Gulf Coast Railroad from Myrtle Grove to Gretna, La.
“Initial projections that the NOGC would have an empty grain train for SP 745 to pull this spring did not pan out,” the organization said in a press release, “But the railway expects there will be several opportunities for this to happen in the late Summer and Fall when grain season resumes.”
The association says that they will likely host the event in August or September. Richard Jacobs, the organization’s director, said that they would likely have about a week of warning ahead of the freight train being ready.
