BOSTON — The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has released a new mobile app, MBTA Go, to provide real-time information on all fixed-route train and bus services and improve communications with riders, the agency announced.
The initial release is only available for Apple iPhones; release of a version for Android devices is anticipated in February 2025. The app, developed in house, provides real-time updates such as estimated arrival times; a system map showing services and transfers available at each stop, and estimated arrival times for a rider’s destination. Initially, it offers information in Spanish, simplified and traditional Chinese, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, and Vietnamese, as well as English.
“MBTA Go will help us be even more transparent allowing riders to have information to make decisions on travel, particularly for those that rely on our system every day. We hope users will give us feedback as we continue development,” MBTA CEO Phillip Eng said in a press release. “We want riders — whether it’s their first time in Boston, or longtime residents — to feel comfortable using public transportation, and this app will be a great tool to accompany people through their trips and to keep them up to date as they navigate the system.”
The app is available at the Apple App Store.
