The union said terms are comparable to those in separate deals it has ratified with BNSF Railway and CSX Transportation, including a wage increase compounded to 18.77% over the life of the contract, the ability to gain vacation time earlier, and the option to carry over up to four unused sick days per year to a maximum of 20 days.

“This new agreement reflects the IBEW’s commitment to ensuring that jobs in the freight rail industry are good jobs that provide economic security for our members and their families,” IBEW International President Kenneth W. Cooper said in a press release. Jeff Rogers, chairman of the NCCC and the National Railway Labor Conference, said in a release, “We’re grateful for the close collaboration with our IBEW partners as we work to build a stronger future for freight rail employees and railroads.”

The IBEW joins the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division of the Teamsters Rail Conrerence in reaching tentative agreements with the NCCC.

The International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers-Mechanical Department, the American Train Dispatchers Association, National Conference of Firemen and Oilers, Transportation Communications Union and Brotherhood of Railway Carmen have previously ratified agreements.
