BALTIMORE — Two crew members were taken to hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries when two CSX trains collided in the railroad’s Curtis Bay Yard early today (March 14, 2025), derailing a locomotive and four railcars.

The incident occurred about 2:45 a.m., according to the railroad. A drone image from WBFF-TV shows at least two cars overturned, with a substance on the ground next to a covered hopper.

“There is no safety risk to the public and no waterways are impacted,” CSX spokeswoman Sheriee Bowman said in an email to Trains News Wire. “CSX immediately activated its emergency response procedures, and its contractors are currently working in close coordination with responding officials.

“Our primary focus right now is the health and safety of onsite staff and personnel, and the surrounding community, as we begin recovery efforts and work to completely restore the area. The cause of the incident is currently under investigation.”
