INDEPENDENCE, Ohio – The Wheeling & Lake Erie and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen have reached a tentative agreement on two new labor deals, one for locomotive engineers and another for trainmen. Union members now have until Jan. 18 to have their say on the dueling deals.

The proposed agreements govern work rules, rates of pay, and health and welfare benefits for about 75 locomotive engineers and over 130 trainmen. A summary of the deals and ballots have been sent to all union members, according to a press release from the union.

“Voting on your union contract is one of the core democratic principles of our Union,” says union President Dennis Pierce. “I encourage all of our Wheeling & Lake Erie engineers and trainmen to study their ratification packets and to participate in this most important process of union democracy.”
