OGDEN, Utah — Ogden’s capital improvement plan for 2020-24 includes $1 million for Ogden Union Station, a project characterized as urgent by both the city council and administration.
The renovation would include remodeled restrooms, furnace replacement, repairs to masonry and windows, lighting improvements, and asbestos remediation in an adjacent building, among other fixes, the Ogden Standard-Examiner reports.
The capital plan ranks infrastructure projects over the next five years, with higher-ranking projects more likely to receive funding in the near future. The council ranks the Union Station work as the No. 1 priority, with the administration ranking it as No. 1. About $200,000 has been previously budgeted for the project.
The city council will hold a hearing on the capital plan on March 26.
The city resumed management and operation of the station in 2017, ending a 13-year agreement with the Union Station Foundation.
