  1. Just built this in N scale on a 12 in. by 48 in. literal shelf. It is a great little operating layout. Definitely not a diorama. Google “Inglenook Sidings Shunting Puzzle” for operation information.

  2. I would classify a diorama as being non-operational. This operates and is a model of a railroad. there it’s a model Railroad. 😉

  3. I was disappointment that the article didn’t include any photos of the layout. Paul, if happen to read this, it would be great if you could post a video tour. Thanks!!

  4. I second Mike Stevens’ comment about publishing more track plans for what I call “micro layouts”. I would love to occasionally see track plans for small dioramas (LDEs?) that could ultimately be connected to form a larger layout.

  5. Love this layout. It’s a classic Inglenook Siding shunting puzzle with buildings and scenery. Looks like a great starter layout to develop basic skills.

  6. I like these smaller, ‘bite-sized’ layouts quite a bit and hope plans like this continue to be published. Space is becoming an issue more and more these days, so any way to encourage the hobby – even in confined quarters – is great.

  7. The article mentions “four garden tracks” on page 27 of the article. Question: what is a GARDEN TRACK? And where are they on the track plan?

I like the track plan and its looks simple enough for even me to build!

  8. I like this layout to use for my improving my skills for when I start on my larger layout in a year or two!
