Hey MRR, you guys left out Bachmann's S-4, one will be dcc ready and one with soundtraxx, maybe some competition for the atlas, if its as good quality as the gp-7/9. Check Bachmann's website.
really looking forward to the Bachman B and O EM 1
My first NMRA show and I loved it. Especially nice to meet the MR folks and also great to spend some time with the Kadee people to help demystify all the different coupler options.
RE the Bachmann 2-8-8-4–a spectacular engine, to be sure. But I second the comment about the need for smaller power that can be used on normal-sized layouts. As a CNW fan my personal nomination would be an R-1 4-6-0, the North Western's maid of all work.
I would like to see more freight cars offered with no numbers so that modelers can purchase an entire fleet and number the cars individually. I would also like to see Walthers develop and offer a GM&O Abe Lincoln or Anne Rutledge passenger train.
I attended the show and was overwhelmed by the number of booths and new products. Several of the modlular loayouts were great. Especialy number 860. The best part of the show was that I was able to meet some of the Kalbach staff in person.
I would like to see Kato make an MP36PH Chicago commuter loco in HO
I see the continuing sign of the modeler being taken advantage of when it comes to prices being charged by the manufacturers. An example is the ore cars supposedly being retooled from Roundhouse products and the price now up to $100.-00 for a six pack. I don't get it and how does one build a fleet of cars to represent what he is trying to model when costs for run of the mill cars and trackwork are going through the roof. I saw Walthers pulling on this string for a number of years now and don't like it.
Finally, really don't see much in the way of new or exciting products being offered for 2012 as most if not all of the products mentioned have veen announced for months anyway.
I wish they made an O Schnabel. That's a beautiful piece of work.
Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder that we'll be posting an updated final show report this week.
Thanks for reading,
Dana Kawala
Senior editor
I like the EM1, but I've had to down-size to a 20×16 space. I would really like to see a non brass 4-4-2 Atlantic.
I wish Bman made a wagontop caboose to go with the new EM1 Lifelike already makes the northeast caboose and I dont see Bman improving that one Why do manufactures insist on making what is already on the market
some very nice ho stuff, but I do n and pretty slim pickins there this time around. Also, the prices are getting out of hand won't be buying much this year.
nice thngs in ho and n gauge but need to see more o gauge and o scale, thats what i model
thanks for the info
the best frank
WHERE IS TT GAUGE STUFF OR IS IT ALWAYS GOING TO THE WICKED STEP CHILD OF H-O
I agree that the N scale output was low compared with other years. Generally the show was quite good.
Its pretty hard to believe that the only game in town for On30 is Bachmann!
Good information of upcoming products.
Do (some of) these breathtaking prices indicate a shift from train-operations / layout-building hobbyists to untouched-in a lucite-box toy train collector hobbyists?
We complain about a scarcity here and there but we must remember that the manufacturers must go where the money is if they are to make a profit and reinvest in additional product launches.
Gee the prices keep going up and up. Message to Manufacturers……. you're killing me guys
I'M GLAD TO SEE BOWSER/STEWART HAS BROUGHT OUT THE ALCO C-636. IT IS LONG OVERDUE.
WHAT I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE IS THE PRR BALDWIN BP-20 PASSENGER SHARKNOSE DIESEL. EVERYONE HAS THE RF-15/16. NO ONE HAS THE BP-20. IT USES THE SAME TRUCKS AS THE PA-1/2 OR SIMILAR.
BLI HAS HAD GREAT SUCCESS WITH THE CENTIPEDE. BOTH ARE RARE ENGINES AND DID NOT SELL WELL IN PROTOTYPE SERVICE..
NO ONE HAS A PRR S-2 STEAM TURBINE EITHER. IT WAS ONE OF LIONEL'S BEST SELLERS. HOW RARE CAN YOU GET. ONLY ONE WAS MADE.
There was a lot of stuff on display but much of it not yet available. It's frustrating seeing but not being able to buy!
Yes we need more N Scale
good info waiting to see whats new in on30
Good report and pictures. Unfortunately, for a disabled and retired guy, I believe this has become a rich man's hobby. On the other hand, I stockpiled lots of stuff back i9n the 80s that are still in the boxes and work fine for me. Happy RRing!
